Wrist and Fingers Conditions We Treat
The knuckle of the little finger (5th digit) is comprised of the end of the metacarpal bone (hand) at the proximal end of the phalanx (finger). A boxer’s fracture is a break in the 5th metacarpal bone in the hand.
The carpal tunnel is the opening passage in the wrist formed by the 8 carpal bones and the transverse carpal ligament. Going through this passageway are tendons, arteries, nerves and other structures.
The scaphoid is a small bone situated in the wrist, located on the thumb side. If completing the ‘thumbs up’ gesture, the scaphoid is located in between the two visible tendons at the end of the thumb.
The metacarpal phalangeal joint (MCP) is found where the thumb meets the hand and is held together by two collateral ligaments. A skier’s thumb injury is a sprain/rupture of the ulna collateral ligament, which is situated on the index finger side of the thumb.
